Home Rob Adler
Rob has come to us in New York City from Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a young teenager Rob became captivated by blues greats Stevie Ray Vaughan and B.B. King and decided guitar was the thing for him. Later on Rob attended a performance by the great classical guitarist Pepe Romero and amended his decision: classical guitar was the thing for him! Long story short, Rob has been playing guitar (Classical, Blues, Jazz, and Rock!) for over 10 years and has been teaching since he was 18 years old.
He received a Bachelor of Music with Emphasis in Recording Technology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh (UWO). While in Wisconsin he performed with the Oshkosh Water City Chamber Orchestra as Principal Guitarist and received a grant that allowed him to create an award-winning guitar method book, Classical Guitar for Electrical Guitarists. Rob also acted as the Guitar Teaching assistant for the UWO Music Department for two years. Currently, Rob is pursuing a Masters in Classical Guitar Performance from the Manhattan School of Music where he received a partial scholarship.
Over the years he has taken lessons with Charlie Combe, Matthew Miller, James Flegel, Javier Calderón, and most recently Mark Delpriora. Rob has also participated in Masterclasses with Roland Dyens, Fabio Zanon, and Pepe Romero.
Rob is a registered Suzuki Guitar Instructor and received his training from Andrea Cannon.

Rob is the most patient teacher with my super active child. He is able make their lessons fun, engaging, and challenging — and can even redirect my son when he’s not paying full attention! Rob is very knowledgeable and always positive.
Rob is wonderful, truly. Our daughter took to him the first she saw him. He has the ability to read our daughter’s needs with the skill of an experienced early childhood music teacher. He knows when to request she works and when to allow play, allowing her to progress with an easy flow. Rob’s learning tools are also very engaging and keep our daughter’s interest peaked for more, even when her young mind starts to wander.
My son loves learning in the unique environment the New York City Guitar school provides and has thrived with Rob’s disciplined and caring instruction. Rob is adept at keeping the lessons engaging for young children and his dedication to the teaching process is apparent during every lesson.
