Home Michelangelo Quirinale
An expert in all things rock, Michelangelo brings over 15 years of teaching experience to the Brooklyn Guitar School. A childhood learning the music of rock greats such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Guns N’ Roses brought him to Berklee College of Music, where he received his BM in Guitar Performance. He loves teaching all styles and levels, specializing in classic rock, pop, heavy metal, and lead guitar. When he’s not working with students, Michelangelo can be seen shredding with NYC based rock heavyweights Thrilldriver. He considers himself extremely lucky to be able to share his love of guitar with his students on a daily basis.

I’m in my seventh session in the Absolute Beginner class and truly, I just walk out of every class brimming with happiness.
The make-up policy is great — go to any other class or have a one-on-one
session.

One of the best things I’ve ever done is sign up for classes here. This is the friendliest staff that has ever existed anywhere ever, and every student feels welcome and encouraged.
They make sure every student is beyond satisfied with his or her experience.
They also provide extra challenges and
sometimes give us material based on the students’ interests. They provide ample opportunities to participate in events outside of class, and I’ve never felt out of place here.
I’ve taken classes with both Lenny and Jon, and they’re both incredibly nice, talented guitarists with a sense of humor and a great knack for teaching. […]
I can’t say enough good things, and I’ll be a student here for a long, long time!

I started with zero musical or guitar experience and now 18 months later have a fun rewarding hobby than I am enthused to continue.

Seriously, the people here are so friendly and nice it takes me aback sometimes after being in New York 3+ years) but they really do create a warm, friendly environment/atmosphere and there is no judgment as to skill.
This is one of the few places I’ve rated where if I could give them an extra star for awesomeness, I totally would.

Even though I’m still a beginner, by week 7 my friends asked me to play them some songs. They were impressed! I was impressed!

I have learned so much in 10 weeks. I fiddled around with a guitar here and there but the absolute beginner class really helped me get my feet wet. I can already play a few beginner songs by heart. Can’t wait to take the next series of classes.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn how to play guitar.

This school rocks. They are super nice, super accommodating and if you ever need to miss and make up a class that is not a problem. I have now taken two ten-week classes there and I am starting on a third. I have made a lot of progress. I am excited to practice and to go to class. I highly recommend this school!

I have loved my experience at NYC Guitar School. I have been taking private classical guitar lessons with Michael who is so enthusiastic, encouraging and talented. My positive experiences with my teacher have been a huge motivator to keep me practicing. His pacing for me is just perfect, I never feel like I have too little or too much to practice in a week, and my improvements in such a short amount of time of taking lessons are drastic.
The office environment is another huge part of what makes NYC Guitar School so great. Awkward timing in my schedule makes it so I have over an hour to kill in the neighborhood before my
lesson every week. I usually just practice and warm up on the guitar a little in the office, which as a total guitar beginner would be a little awkward in such a public space but for the incredibly welcoming staff in the office. Everyone who walks in and out of the guitar school is all smiles and friendliness–it makes for a positive vibe that just needs to be experienced to be understood.
NYC Guitar school is just the best, and I look forward to my lesson every week.

Great guitar school! I was looking for a place to take group classes and this place is awesome. Everyone is super nice, from the teachers to the staff. The rates for classes are good. Also, they have guitars available to be used during class so I don’t have to lug mine back and forth for each class, which makes it so much easier. I’m on my third session of classes (10 classes/session) and I’ve definitely learned a ton. […]
