Gabrielle is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Bronx who has been gigging as a professional musician in NYC since age 16. She grew up as a student of New York City Guitar School herself, and began as a teenaged intern before rising through the ranks to become a full time vocal coach and guitar teacher.
Gabrielle studied Vocal Performance at Hunter College with a concentration in classical singing, while writing and performing rock and folk music in ensembles. Now she sings, writes, and plays rhythm guitar for the Brooklyn-based indie rock band, War Honey, which she started with her long-time friend and fellow NYCGS student, Ben Fitts. The band is currently signed to Handstand Records and has released two extended plays that have both received international radio airplay and critical acclaim, and have together accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams. War Honey has been described by A Grrrl’s Two Sound Cents as “hav(ing) blown every other promising young band out of the water,” and “an almost transcendent experience,” by Razorcake Magazine.
Although she is a proficient instructor in many genres and instruments, her specialties include classical, rock, folk, jazz and indie singing, as well as lyric writing, instrumental writing, and folk guitar. As someone who began teaching at NYCGS at only 18 years of age, Gabrielle believes that potential, innovation, and creativity hold no bounds and possess no judgement. Whether you’re a seasoned songwriter or brand new beginner, Gabrielle is committed to making you feel comfortable and confident while having fun and achieving your personal musical goals.
