NYC Guitar School is one of America’s largest music schools with 3,000 students and 50 teachers. Students love us because they learn to play guitar while having fun and making friends. Our mission is “Coaching Personal Greatness One Lesson At A Time.” As a NYC Guitar School teacher, when you support and guide your students to gain the confidence and skill to reach their potential as players, you will also be helping them unlock confidence and skill in all areas of their life.

Love of music and solid playing skills are givens. This position is perfect for reliable people who love to teach and help others grow. Teaching experience is helpful, and the desire and openness to improve as a teacher is a must.

A degree in music, musical theatre or education is preferred, but occasionally we hire someone with other appropriate experience, especially college students pursuing a music, music theatre or education degree.

Compensation: Experienced Teachers start at $34/hour in-studio and $54/hour in-home plus additional bonus opportunities for studio growth, student retention and student success plus paid training. New To Teaching? We will train you. Junior Teachers start at $25/hour in-studio and $45/hour in-home plus get training, mentorship and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities include:
–Coach your students to long term success in music by teaching effective and motivating lessons and using available resources.
–Encourage and support your students in playing in school recitals and shows.
–Continually improve as a teacher by learning and sharing the NYCGS world class best teaching practices and attend and contribute to continuing teacher education programs.
–Be proactive, reliable and dependable in your communication with students and other team members. This includes giving advance notice on gigs or tours.
