Need to rent a guitar in New York City? You’ve come to the right place!
We’re NYC’s largest guitar school, and we handle hundreds of guitar rentals each year.
Maybe you’re not ready to commit to owning a guitar, or you want to try playing guitar before buying one–or you’re a parent, and you want to make sure this guitar thing is going to work out before buying one. For those reasons, you need a guitar rental!
Or, are you visiting NYC, and need a rental guitar to practice on while you are here? Welcome to New York! We have happily rented guitars to visitors from around the world as well as from all over the US–and we are excited to get you fitted out with a guitar, too.
How It Works:
- Select your rental below.
- Pick up your guitar at NYC Guitar School – Midtown, 251 West 30th Street, 7th floor. (Email info@nycguitarschool.com to confirm your pick-up time or to arrange pickup at your first class at any of our locations if you are a NYCGS student.)
- Your rental starts the day you pick up your guitar.
Pricing for Guitar Rentals:
- Acoustic/Classical: $21/month (students) | $41/month (non-students)
- Electric/Bass (includes cable + amp): $31/month (students) | $51/month (non-students)
- You’ll also pay a deposit of $179-$259, depending on the guitar. You get that back when you return the guitar.

A: NYCGS Student Rate: $21/mo for an acoustic guitar, a classical guitar, or a 3/4 kid size guitar, or $31/month for an electric guitar or bass guitar including amp and cable. Not a NYCGS student? You pay an extra $20 per month. (But hey, Visitors, why not take some custom lessons while you are here!? Then you can be a student, too! 
There is also a deposit when you pick up the guitar, which is refunded when you bring the guitar back.)
A: For acoustic guitars, we mostly rent out Yamaha 325s and Yamaha 335s or similar…these are workhorse student guitars, they are totally not fancy, but great for basic acoustic guitars. For electric, bass, etc. it’s an exciting grab-bag, you never know what you are going to get, but it’ll do the job!
A: Sure–but there is a one month minimum charge.
