Virtual Camps

Our virtual rock bands combine the virtual classroom with a cloud based music studio called Soundtrap. Campers work together with their band and coach to choose, arrange and record songs together.  They also learn the basics of music production because they are recording themselves and also mixing their band track! A free premium one month membership to Soundtrap is included as part of camp.

Watch the video below to learn more about how the entire digital production process works and listen to the tracks that some of our students have created!

Absolutely! Campers have a one hour break for lunch.

They are busy!  They are learning and collaborating in the virtual classroom, getting one on one instruction in breakout rooms, and work on recording video to go along with their recorded and mixed track for the Friday show. Often, our campers don’t want to stop at the end of the day and keep recording, practicing, and updating their tracks!

Students will work with their coach and bandmates. These sessions mix group learning, breakout sessions for individual coaching, and independent study.  The coaches are live and working with the group for the entire morning and afternoon sessions.

Daily Camp Schedule
10am: Morning Meeting – Share highlights and updates!
10:10-12pm: Morning Session
12-1pm: Break for Lunch
1-3pm: Afternoon Session

Camp Events During the Week
Monday & Tuesday: Meet your band and start rehearsing!
Wednesday: Virtual Band Visits to share your work and be inspired by the other groups.
Thursday: More rehearsal plus learn how to mix your tracks!
Friday: Regular camp day plus the 2pm Show and Listening Party – friends and family are invited to join!

You will need your instrument of choice, a computer (equipped with a camera and a microphone), headphones that plug into your device, and an Internet connection!

These camps are small group, immersive experiences.  There is a maximum of 7 students per group.  In bands, we only book 1 bassist, keyboardist, drummer, and vocalist (if that is their only instrument).  We will book up to 4 guitarists if there is no bassist in the group.  For some advanced level Teen Rock Bands, we will only book up to 3 guitarists.

We book just one drummer per band.

Yes! Our world class teachers guide each group step-by-step for the entire camp day. These sessions mix group learning, breakout sessions for individual coaching, and independent study.

No, it’s super easy! The week before your camp starts, you will receive an email with the direct links to your virtual classroom. Your instructor will also email an invitation to join Soundtrap (unless you are part of the Advanced Digital Songwriting & Music Production class). Just follow the directions for Soundtrap and save your welcome email, and then click the link before camp begins. Advanced Music Production students just need to download Ableton on their computer before camp starts!

This is the number one question we get asked by new students. Meeting a teacher and other campers online can be both exciting and a bit daunting. But we’ll help you get ready step by step. We will connect you with your instructor several days before camp starts in case you have last minute questions. You will receive a detailed welcome email about one week before camp starts. Read through your welcome email for all the details!

And of course, if you have any questions we are standing by to help at 646-485-7244 ext 1 or via email us at

Sure! First, make sure that your equipment is ready for your lesson by going to a test meeting here. If you need to download an app or an extension, you’ll be prompted to do so. Just follow the prompts! If you have any questions at all, visit call us at 646-485-7244 ext. 1 or email us at We would LOVE to help you!

Oh, and of course you don’t want your first day of camp to be interrupted by technical issues! Give yourself some extra time before your first day of camp begins to make sure that your internet signal is strong and that your video and microphone are working. Watch this fun video for a step by step checklist to make sure that you are totally ready!

In-Person Camps

Camp is from 10am-2:30pm with a 30min break for lunch.

Please arrive between 9:45am-9:55am so that your coach can let you into the building. It is a private building and the front entrance is locked.

Please be on time so that your band can begin rehearsal on time!

All campers should pack a lunch with drinks and anything they will need. They will not be able to leave and purchase anything once the camp day starts.

Depending on weather and other variables, your coach will walk the band to an outdoor space to eat lunch together. If eating outside is not feasible, they will eat together in the studio room. Campers will be required to stay with their coach during lunch regardless of age.

Eating outside will allow band members to maintain a social distance, preserve a “masks at all times while in the studio” guideline, and will allow for a mid-day uv light sanitizing of the studio room.

Camp is at the Music Building, 584 8th Ave between 38th and 39th St (on the East side of the street in the middle off the block). The building is private and the front door is locked at all times. Students will be escorted in and out of the building by their coach.

The Music Building is a part of NYC’s rock ‘n’ history. Artists such as Madonna, Blondie, Billy Idol, Metallica, Living Color, Cyndi Lauper, Interpol, The Strokes, Patti Smith, Joey Ramone, The New York Dolls, Lou Reed ( and more !!) have rehearsed in the building. It is a community of working musicians and famous musicians are sometimes in the building. If you see someone you recognize, please be cool. Remember that they are there to rehearse, just like you!

Parents will pick up and drop-off campers at the entrance of The Music Building. You will have your teacher’s cell phone number and receive a text when they are ready for pick-up/drop-off in front of the building.

The teacher will give a temperature check and health screening upon arrival.

NOTE: The building is located on 8th Ave near the Port Authority and we recommend waiting at the Starbucks on 8th Ave and 39th if you arrive early. There is no access to the building without your teacher.

First and foremost, they should bring their sincere desire to rock!

They should also bring:
Lunch, water, and drinks or snacks.
Guitarists & bassists should bring their instruments, cable, tuner, pick and any effects pedals.
Computer/tablet for virtual band visits, morning meeting, and recording in Soundtrap

NOTE: We believe that protecting young musicians’ hearing is IMPORTANT. We will provide ear plugs to all Rock Band Campers. Please encourage them to WEAR ear plugs during rehearsals!

We are not able to offer Early Drop-off or Extended Day this year. If you would like to add Booster Lessons, please email to find out about availability.

Please email so that we can arrange for an instrument to be in the studio room for you!

Yes! The studio rooms will be locked and only used by your camp group during the week.
