Vincent DeMasi
A full-time musician and guitar teacher since 1995, Vincent specializes in
rock, blues, and jazz and is especially patient with adult beginners! He
holds a BS in Jazz and Commercial music from Hofstra and a BA in Musicology
from L.I.U. Vincent has published hundreds of six-string-related articles
and is a regular monthly contributor of how-to lessons and transcriptions to
"Guitar Player" and "Frets" magazines--including penning the July 2007 cover
story/lesson feature. Five of Vincent's lesson columns were chosen for
inclusion in Hal Leonard's 2008 publication "The Guitar Player Book." When
not teaching, Vincent can be found on-stage rocking a crowded dance floor
with his party-rock band the Mulligans, playing solo acoustic gigs to
support his 2007 solo instrumental CD "Sketches for Sofia," or replicating
the mesmerizing guitar tones of The Edge with leading tri-state area U2
tribute band U2 Nation. He has also appeared on Broadway as an understudy
lead guitarist in the Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp collaborative "Moving Out" and
performed with Herb Reed's Platters, Steam, Marilyn Michaels, and many
others. At NYC Guitar School, Vincent is the designer and teacher of the
Classic Rock, U2, Heavy Metal, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and
intermediate/advanced Guns and Roses classes and also offers his guidance to
Adult Rock Band courses. Vincent lives in "wine country" Long Island with
his wife Priscilla and daughter Sofia Rose and wakes up every morning
totally psyched to be able to play and teach guitar for a living.
