Lenny Molotov

Lenny is the keystone of NYC Guitar School: reliable, calm and strong. There is something about his patient and direct approach that gives each of his students the understanding and inspiration to play guitar. His adult beginners steadily go from knowing nothing to playing their favorite songs with confidence. He is also our resident expert in folk, blues and fingerpicking. For an insight into the mind of Lenny, consider this: he doesn’t trust the published transcriptions of old guitar recordings, but insists on meticulously transcribing Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, etc., before teaching them. Lenny also composes original music for television and plays in the Delta Blues band Elgin Movement.

"I have been working with Lenny for almost a year and have found him to be a truly remarkable teacher. His knowledge spread over almost every style of guitar playing, and he is always willing to cater to a students changing musical tastes. More importantly though, he is patient and focused, not only on teaching students what they think they should know, but on helping them evolve as players."
- Matt Harper

"Lenny's soulful guitar playing comes across in his lessons. He takes you to places you never thought you'd hear with your own hands"
- Dr. Jill Gewirtz
