Hector Marin
Hector Marin joins the NYCGS team of amazing teachers from Costa Rica, has been playing the guitar for over ten years, and has been been teaching guitar for many years as well. He started learning electric guitar, specifically rock, and then went on to study classical guitar at the University of Costa Rica. From there he got the chance to become a member of the Guitar Orchestra of Costa Rica, with whom he toured the country, played as soloist, and performed in the International Guitar Festival, sharing the stage with renowned guitarists such as Juanjo Dominguez, and Jorge Cardozo.
Hector has always loved the guitar, and over the years, this love grew to other areas of music as well. Upon moving to New York, he received his BA in music, with a concentration in composition at the City College of New York, and won an ASCAP composition award/scholarship.
Hector believes in great education. To nurture the love of music and the guitar means incredible patience and trust between the teacher and the students, as well as creating a fun and dynamic environment.
He enjoys helping people discover their talents, and make the music they love a more vivid part of their lives.
The music he loves is varied - from Prokofiev to The Beatles to Iron Maiden, and everything in between! Hector is currently planning to form a new band, and start working on new projects.
