Hector Marin

I have been playing the guitar for over ten years, and have been teaching guitar for many years as well. I started learning electric guitar, specifically rock, and then went on to study classical guitar at the University of Costa Rica. From there I got the chance to become a member of the Guitar Orchestra of Costa Rica, with whom I toured the country, played as soloist, and performed in the International Guitar Festival, sharing the stage with renowned guitarists such as Juanjo Dominguez, and Jorge Cardozo. I have always loved the guitar, and over the years, this love grew to other areas of music as well. When I moved to New York, I got my BA in music, with a concentration in composition at the City College of New York, and won an ASCAP composition award/scholarship. I believe in great education. To nurture the love of music and the guitar means incredible patience and trust between the teacher and the students, as well as creating a fun and dynamic environment. I enjoy helping people to discover their talents, and make the music they love a more vivid part of their lives. The music I love is very varied - from Prokofiev to The Beatles to Iron Maiden, and everything in between! I am currently planning to form a new band, and start working on new projects.
