Jazz Guitar 101
Limited to six students. Ten weekly one-hour sessions. $319.00
Learn the fundamentals of jazz guitar, and jazz chord voicings. Become familiar with reading jazz charts as found in "real" books and "fake" books, and appropriate chord substitutions. Learn the overview of the styles of jazz guitar legends such as Freddie Green, Charlie Christian, and Wes Montgomery, the forces behind swing, Bebop, and Hard-bop. There will be a brief history and listening section to further the understanding and appreciation of jazz. Learn the fundamentals of jazz guitar by playing great jazz standards.
Students should be familiar with open chords and basic barre chords. Note reading not required.
Guitars available for use in the classroom.
